iMedia Kernel Features

iMedia Kernel Features In the current state iMedia linux distribution works only on x86 compatible processors. We provide 2 x86 processor optimised builds : To ensure better performance, stability, uptodate driver fixes and better behaviour in noswap enviroments we selected a few patches for the kernel:
  • Preemptible kernel patches by Kon Colivas
  • VIA and AMD/Geode hardware updates
  • Unionfs2, SquashFS, and others
We also added some of our small modifications:
  • silent graphical booting (a splash screen is shown on boot).
  • EXT3 with custom journaling and tuned for Compact Flash use.
  • various exports of symbols.
  • modification of default running parameters
For 4.0 and higher iMedia releases our modified kernel can be downloaded from ftp://imedialinux.com/sources/

For older 2.4 kernel iMedia releases our modified reiserfs filesystem can be mounted on a stock 2.4 kernel above 2.4.22 version without any modifications.
Kernel sources can be downloaded from : ftp://update:4update@updates.mini-box.com/sources/kernel/
