First, a little background.
I currently have an investigation system up and running (Pentium III, PVR-250) using KnoppMyth. I have a Dish receiver, and KnoppMyth makes it trivial to change channels on the Dish box with built in irblaster device and sample scripts for many satellite tuners. Except for the fact that the system is large and loud, the system meets my need.
I am considering a VIA EPIA-CN10000EG motherboard for my final system and it appears that iMedia MythTV will support the hardware nicely -- except for the serial blaster. I installed iMedia 4.0.0 MythTV on a bare system and there appears to be no serial blaster device. Am I missing something?
There is no serial blaster support at this moment. We might add it in the future in the main distribution. In the mean time you
can add this by yourself. We can guide you thru the steps.
Guidance for setting up and configuring serial blaster support would be great. I have a working configuration on KnoppMyth (channel changing script and IR configuration for my Dish Network receiver). What I think is missing is the ir blaster device driver. Will I need to download sources from somewhere and build them on/for the iMedia box? Due to its size, I assume that the iMedia distribution does not include compiler, libraries, etc. Will I need to setup another system in order to build a driver? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.
Can you give me more details about the serial blaster ? We have a serial IR driver in LIRC but you need to select lirc-serial package when installing. Also if you need IR Blaster support you need to recompile LIRC on another machine and copy the binaries to iMedia.
What distro/version do you suggest using to compile lircd for imedia ? I tried to compile a new lircd on ubuntu edgy but since I have different glibc it did not work:
/usr/local/sbin/lircd.new: /lib/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.4' not found (required by /usr/local/sbin/lircd.new)
(I'm trying to add Pinnacle PCTV Serial IRDA support).
