I installed iMedia MythTV (latest version 5.0.1 with 2.6.20 kernel) on motherboard VIA Epia EX15000G. At installation I chose
- i686 Architecture
- target device /dev/hda
- Install GRUB Boot Loader on MBR.
Installation finished regularly. Now when booting from harddisk I get
the message "Verifying DMI Pool Data..." and the boot process doesn't continue.
To solve this problem I did the installation procedure without "Install GRUB Boot Loader on MBR". In this case when booting GRUB starts. With following commands I can successfully boot:
root (hd0,0)
kernel /boot/imedia
boot
At linux prompt when I try to start x with "startx" I get:
Fatal server error:
No screens found
IO: fatal IO error 104...
panic, can you please tell me how to choose VIA EX drivers during installation? There is no choise for this on my checklist during custom install... Is it simply the case that the distro lack compability with the VIA EX15000G?
Can I possibly add drivers to my install CD before installing?!
I am a fresh newbie when it comes to Linux, so please give it to me in simple terms. Thank you in advance!:o)

Ok, OS still not booting automatically after successfull install with the EX drivers. I still only get command prompt, only this time without my USB keyboard working..so I get nowhere.. any hints on what to try next? Can it be a problem that I am installing to a CF card ( internal IDE bus cf card reader )?!
Dunno how much more time before I just install a stripped down version of Win XP MCE.. too bad, cause iMedia sounds very promising.

We have updated VIA EX video drivers package which can be installed on mythtv distribution too.
See the post on iMedia Linux forum on the top for download locations.
