Hello,

I recently downloaded iMedia Linux MythtTv. Installation went very easy, "startx" however gives a problem. It seems that the via-kernel module is missing. Can it be found on the cd? I tried the instructions in the "screens not found"-topic but it seems that the solution there doesn't help. #mount_cdrom seems to work, however when I dir to /mnt/cdrom it says that it doesn't exist. What must I do?

Mon, 2007-02-12 22:55 I guess you installed imedia

I guess you installed imedia on a epia with i586 architecture...
I don't think it's a kernel module but a xorg driver module.
if mount_cdrom doesnt work, try with mount /dev/hdb /mnt/cdrom (change hdb with your cd/dvd device name)
or maybe you have to mkdir /mnt/cdrom !!!
I hope you'll be more lucky than me! I'm still waiting for a solution (a fixed ISO!)

Bye

I've been downloading ISO's all night and still can't find one with the i586 package for the via module. I'm hoping that there's a solution soon.

I'm waiting from the day I posted my problem. No responce yet.
I even tried to contact developers via the support page, without success.
I hope they were too busy to answer me!
I tried to compile unichrome driver on a ubuntu box, now X starts, but mythtvfrontend cannot find libGL.so.1....
I think it's more complicated than I thougt!!!! ;)

EDIT: I tried to install the i686 package of viacle266, and mythtv starts!
I didn't fully tested the system, but I was able to go to settings and mess up things ;)
Hope it helps

Ah, glad to hear it! I tried your solution but it keeps saying that I need to enter the correct password after "su"-ing the mount command. However, I re-installed the lot, paid special attention to the password but it still would be wrong. No doubt about the capacities of this distro, but I'm off to KnoppMyth... Thanks for your help though!

Hi,
at the installation you have to set the root partition, not only your user's partition.
at the users list, select root and then "modify user".
Hope this helps.

I tried the 686 as well, which worked, but then I can't get in to the mythtv settings, it just freezes. I'm assuming that it is trying to run something on the proc that doesn't exists. So yes you can install with the 686 kernel, but it will be unstable. So I still need a 586 module.

Hi all,

I know you've been waiting for i585 via cle module, so starting today you can find it on our ftp in updates section: ftp://ftp.imedialinux.com/updates/4.0.1
There was a problem is our package metalist and because of that i585 arch was missing from install cd.

PS. This problem will be fixed in next release.
