I would like to compare my bios settings with other users that have had success.
I am using component output to a NTSC standard definition TV. Audio is through traditional RCA cables.
I have installed

imedia 5.0.4

epia EX10000E

hauppauge 150 low profile

My bios settings are as follows.

Under --> Advanced Chipset Features

Init Display First = AGP
Select Display Device = CRT + TV
Panel Type = 02 (If anyone can explain what this is I would appreciate it)
TV H/W Layout = S-Video + Y,Cb,Cr
TV Type = NTSC
TV Output Connector = All disabled except Cr/Y/Cb

The issue I have is that X will display OK but when I revert back to the console the TV screen is scrambled.
Also when I play video or live TV the video is much too fast for the audio and ends up buffering causing short breaks in the stream.

Hi Parabola,

Have you resolved your issue with the video playing too fast? I have just installed Imedia MythTV 5.0.2 on a Epia EX15000G and I am experiencing the same problem. I have selected the mythtv-setup and added the CX700 driver package during install. I have installed the latest CX700 and ALSA drivers from the post:

http://www.imedialinux.com/forum/via_ex_issues_solved_and_in_development

I am using it as a frontend only without any tuner and I am using the DVI output for an LCD TV (DVI is converted to HDMI but it is the same on a monitor). When I play live TV I see the same as you do, where the video is playing too fast for the audio which causes short breaks in the stream. When playing recorded shows, the video is still playing too fast, but instead of causing short breaks, it accelerates the sound in order to catch up with the video. When I start watching TV I get errors in the frontend-log such as (some log lines have been left out):

VideoOutputXv Error: XvMC output requested, but is not supported by display.
Xlib: extension "XVideo-MotionCompensation" missing on display ":0.0".
VideoOutputXv: XvMCTex: Init failed
VideoOutputXv: XVideo Adaptor Name: 'XV_SWOV'
Video timing method: DRM
NVP: prebuffering pause
NVP: prebuffering pause
NVP: prebuffering pause
[NVP error is repeated]

In /var/log/X.org.log I get the following warning:

(WW) VIA(0): [XvMC] Not supported on this chipset.

It seems like XvMC is not supported on the CX700, is that correct and can it have anything to do with it? I have tried all the MPEG decoding settings (libmpeg, Standard XVMC, VIA XVMC etc.), but it does not make any difference.

If anyone else than Parabola knows the solution, please feel free to respond :-)

Happy New Year to all of you.

/Lars

It seems to work when I disable HW acceleration (NoAccel set to "on" in xorg.conf). From the change logs it looks like it has been fixed in version 5.0.3. Is it possible to have the CX700M2 drivers from the 5.0.3 version made available for download? /Lars
