While the install CD can boot and install imedialinux to a hdd, after installing everything, the DVD\CD is not accessible to any of the multimedia apps or thunar.
I'm using a EPIA EX with a slim dvd drive.
Please advise,
Same problem here.
I read that Gentoo (I think that's what iMedia is based off of) creates only "essential" mounts.
QUOTE: "You have to edit your /fstab file since the one Gentoo creates only declares essential boot devices e.g: HD, /boot, etc"...
Essential to who? :)
I see imedia creates a "supermount", which I believe would work for USB drives, but not a IDE drive.
HOWEVER - - I have tried several times and have been unsucessful -- but I am no pro.
Someone please tell us what needs to be done!
Thanks!
Actually, I was able to read the install CD as a data CD in Thunar. But none of the multimedia apps can access media in the drive. They don't even recognize the drive.
This may have something to do with the mounting process getting the file system properly specified?
Same thing here.
I posted the question on "A few Questions" thread I created. No replies.
When I launch MMS - Says "Can't find DVD/CD player" when I try to play a DVD.
I went to MMS forums and they are actual very responsive. The forums are pretty active compared to iMedia... which is too bad.
Here is a link that may or may not help--> http://forum.mymediasystem.org/viewtopic.php?t=449&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=dvd+drive&start=30
But what I have gathered is that the config file for MMS (/etc/mms/config) must match settings for dvd-drive in fstab. I thought I had found the solution for me, but no... It still says "Can't find DVD/CD player".
Kind of upsetting that a free OS has great support and this paid version has not been very responsive.
If you figure out anything please let me know. I'll keep pounding away here.
This is definitely a permissions issue.
I logged out of X.
Changed to "su".
Entered password for root.
Launched X again (startx).
Launched MMS and it FINALLY can see the DVD drive.
